# MCP - server and access - Credential setup | Docs - nodulz

Language: en

Credential type in nodulz : `mcp:mcp_server`.

## Create access

Ask the MCP server operator for its endpoint and authentication method. Create a nodulz MCP credential with the URL and key when required.

## Configure in nodulz

In your instance, open Credentials, select the type above, name the credential and complete these fields:

```text
serverUrl, optional apiKey
```

Save the credential, then select it on relevant nodes. URLs or parameters marked as node settings belong directly on that node.

## Things to check

Check HTTP transport and authentication compatibility with the nodulz client. A local stdio-only server is not equivalent to an HTTP URL.

Verify an operation with expected permissions and data before publishing. Keep secrets out of logs and revoke them with the provider when no longer needed.
